About Hannah
Get to Know Hannah Russell...
Hannah Russell is a bestselling author with 19 published books to her name. She started her writing journey at the young age of 17 with a book about her miniature Shetland pony, Little Alf. Over the past decade, Hannah has not only expanded her entrepreneurial spirit but has also become the face of various brands, earning numerous awards along the way.
Hannah's passion for the outdoors blossomed during her childhood, ignited by her first pony, Badger.
This early connection to horses and nature has flourished over the years as she grew up in Yorkshire surrounded by a diverse array of animals. From horses and dogs to sheep, tortoises, guinea pigs, rabbits, chickens, goats, and alpacas, these beloved creatures continue to grace Hannah's social media platforms.
Her journey as a writer began with a tiny pony named 'Little Alf,' who joined her family in 2012. Standing at just 28 inches tall, he was impossible to resist, even if it meant sneaking him past her parents!
The name 'Alf' pays tribute to her great-grandfather, Alf Suttill, a former farmer from Coverdale, North Yorkshire. After welcoming Alf into her life, Hannah started a blog chronicling his daily adventures alongside her other animals. In 2014, she began crafting a story about him, which she self-published, initially selling around 20 copies in the first year.
As she enjoyed writing about his escapades, she published two more books, and his online following began to grow. By 2016, Hannah and Little Alf were featured in a national newspaper, leading to her being contacted by a literary agency.

Shortly after, her autobiography, 'Little Alf - The True Story of a Pint-Sized Pony Who Found His Forever Home,' was published.
Since then, Hannah has authored and illustrated a series of children's books featuring all her animals, which have become bestsellers.
In 2024 and 2025, she was honoured as 'Author of the Year.'
Her experiences with her animals have ignited a passion for business and the countryside.
