Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust

Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust (YDMT) is a small charity doing big things to support people, landscape and wildlife in the Yorkshire Dales and surrounding areas.
​
YDMT delivers diverse and inspirational projects that help to create habitats for our wildlife, tackle climate change and support people to stand up for nature. We have helped to plant 1.6 million trees and restore more than 800 hectares of wildflower hay meadow.
​
We’re passionate about helping people to get to know, love and care for the Dales, with a focus on connecting young and underrepresented groups with nature. Our partnership with Hannah Russell supports our aim to create an inclusive and welcoming Yorkshire Dales that is accessible to everyone.

The Brooke Charity
Proud to be ambassador for :
Hannah has been a supporter of Brooke’s work for many years, including becoming an Every Horse Remembered Ambassador in 2018, supporting a campaign which marked 100 years since the end of WW1 and honoured the 8 million horses, donkeys and mules who died.
Hannah was named Ambassador – Youth Focus in early 2019, and in September of that year Hannah travelled to Kenya to see Brooke's work. Whilst there, she visited one of the school projects that Brooke supports and met families affected by the donkey skin trade crisis.

Yorkshire Cancer Research
Hannah was diagnosed with cancer aged 21, after she started feeling pain in her right hip. She was referred for further tests and was diagnosed with sarcoma, a cancer which is found in the soft tissue. After having chemotherapy and radiotherapy to treat the cancer, Hannah was given the ‘all-clear’.
​
Unfortunately, a year later, she was diagnosed with skin cancer and had further radiotherapy and surgeries to remove the cancer.

Walking the Yorkshire Three Peaks for Yorkshire Cancer Research
In 2024 Hannah and a group of her friends took part in the Yorkshire Cancer Research Three peaks challenge raising just over £3,000 for the charity.
​
Hannah is set to take on the challenge again this May 2025.
